“Une Chambre en Ville” – A Room in Town, the town being New York, the resident; Roland Mouret. On the esteemed Madison Avenue, the US Flagship which moved to 1006 Madison Avenue in 2016 makes a bold move in experiential retailing with the new expansion.
The opening of “Une Chambre en Ville” sees the two levels of the townhouse transformed into an exclusive suite where the designer welcomes clients to discover his latest collections in the comfort of his home away from home; creating a most intimate shopping experience.
Arranged over the third and fourth floors of the townhouse and spread across 1,300 square feet, the residence is cast in an elegant colour palette of grey, white and taupe, complementing the brutalist concept that is continued from the ground and mezzanine levels of the retail floors.
Partnering with long-time friend and frequent collaborator of the brand, Jerome Dodd, Roland has meticulously curated both art and furniture in the apartment, combining plush velvet sofas with exposed metalwork and all manner of curiosities, embodying Roland’s dynamic aesthetic and retail identity. Taking inspiration from le Corbusier interiors, a theme maintained on all levels throughout the townhouse, the designer’s love of interiors is established, further solidifying his passion for both fashion and art.
At the heart of “Une Chambre en Ville” is Roland’s lounge, a space dedicated to private gatherings and personal appointments. With a brutalist steel bar stocked with Roland’s favourite beverages, the brand is ready to host cocktail parties and champagne soirées.
And to kick start, Mouret will be co-hosting an event to celebrate the unveiling of his new space, with respected artist, poet and storyteller Cleo Wade. This will be the first of many specially curated events to be hosted throughout the year; establishing “Une Chambre en Ville” as a place in which the brand’s community can engage and create a conversation with creatives and clients alike.
*“America has always been an important market for me, and the warmth and openness of the people makes me feel at home. I wanted to create the world of Roland Mouret for amazing American women who want to discover my clothes, to build an atmosphere where she feels relaxed.*
*This is a store, but also a home away from home. I’m excited to be able open my home to my clients, and hope that they feel at home too.”* Roland Mouret
“Une Chambre en Ville” opens officially on Thursday 8th February, at Roland Mouret, "1006 Madison Avenue, NY 10075":https://www.rolandmouret.com/stores.
